Open technique: Open rhinoplasty is a more modern technique. The incision is located on the base of the nose between the nostrils, on what is known as the columella, which allows Dr. Bublik to have better visualization and control over the surgery. In Dr. Bublik’s, hands this technique leads to less bruising and less trauma to the nasal skin which speeds up recovery.

Closed technique: A closed or endonasal rhinoplasty is the same as an open approach except there is no incision across the bottom of the nose. It involves creating the incisions inside the nasal passageways. Dr. Bublik is skilled in this technique but feels that it limits visibility, but in select patients is the technique of choice.

After surgery, most patients have minimal to no bruising as Dr. Bublik uses tissue preserving and minimally invasive approaches. You will have a light splint on your nose for a about a week. Most patients experience little to no pain after surgery. Dr. Bublik uses a combination of unique surgical methods so that most people can go back to work or to a social gathering about one week after surgery.
